American Chipping Sparrows are sometimes confused with the American Tree Sparrow

American Chipping Sparrows are sometimes confused with the American Tree Sparrow, which is similar in appearance. Chipping Sparrows lack the dark spot (shown below) in the center of their chest that is characteristic of the American Tree Sparrow .

The American Tree Sparrow lacks the Chipping Sparrow's white supercilium and the black eye line stripe. See below
